There are some USB clip drives in the shape of Domokun. Who is and used to be my idol – who is not?. Well I don’t need one. Not at all. Even more of a problem is the price. For the 1 Gig model its $50. For the 2 Gig its $80. For the 4 Gig model, the one I probably could get some use, comes in at $110. Too pricey for me as you can easily find 4 Gig USB drives for under $20, well maybe more for a good quality one – just saw a nice OCZ 4Gb or $24.69 at CanadaComputer.

There is a big problem though, those aren’t the shape of the dear Domokun, he doesn’t have ears!

In case you’re wondering they do have different designs. Star Wars, Happy Tree Friends, HALO, and Hello Kitty USB clips can also be found on their webpage. Also just as expensive. Anyways, check out Mimoco’s webpage for product information and purchasing.

it has been snowing quite a few day here and I just would like to pass around two good tips for taking snow pictures:

If you’re not shooting in full manual it’s a good idea to set your camera’s Exposure Compensation to +1.0 since the camera’s metering usually tends to under-expose when fooled by the white coverage.

I usually shoot in Shutter Priority mode (TV in Canon) to get the look I want for the falling snow. Depending on the wind speed a shutter speed between 1/80s to 1/125s usually produces a nice streak line for snow which has a dynamic look to it that I like. Shooting slower than that mostly makes the snow disappear or turn them into super long lines. Faster than that will make solid non-moving snow flakes in the air which might be the effect you’re looking for, but lacks the sense of motion and direction.

It has been some time since I bought my dSLR now, but I never really used it. I have been using the kit lens (18-55) more or less without pushing it to the limit – noticing for flares against the light from time to time. But when shooting at events like festivals or such I felt so distant from the scene not able to shoot faces and do some fancy close up on clothes.

I needed a lens that goes beyond 55mm. Something covering 18-above, is really pricy. So when I saw this 55-200 for $150CAD, I jumped on it. A very mint sigma less about which I have read a lot of good things about.

Well it is not a high end lens of anything, just good for me to shoot more covering with 2 lenses 18 – 200mm!

Check out a review here.

The night before Christmas I had all my digital cameras ready for Christmas eve. And all were used heavily: family, food, gifts and other fun photos!
Today we had another heavy lunch with good family friends. I lent my great EOS 350D to my brother, so he took some photos and there I saw him in my back sneaking in the menus. “Can this camera shot black and white?” sure it does! He was sneaking in the system menu, so I changed the setting to B&W and he shot some.
Later on I wanted to show everyone all the photos we took for Christmas, so I plug my EOS on the TV and then only 5 photos are displayed on the photo list: 5 B&W photos, the ones my brother took. Grrr!
All the Christmas pictures were gone! Everything! I hated my brother so much!
First I surfed the web for a recovery tool and I found a nice one: Digital Image Recovery, freeware and easy to use. Good, so as I am writing some pictures are being restored, I previewed some and some of them are damaged hopefully, everything will end up smoothly and all the photos will be recovered…Eventually.

remember Fezzik, in The princess bride the best movie ever? you know that movie about a kindly grandfather sits down with his grandson and reads him a bedtime story. The story is one that has been passed down through from father to son for generations. As the grandfather reads the story, the action comes alive. The story is a classic tale of love and adventure as the beautiful Buttercup is kidnapped and held against her will in order to marry the odious Prince Humperdinck, and Westley (her childhood beau, now returned as the Dread Pirate Roberts) attempts to save her. On the way he meets an accomplished swordsman and a huge, super strong giant, both of whom become his companions in his quest. They meet a few bad guys along the way to rescue Buttercup… A transcendent, nostalgic, pervasively hilarious experience

Well tonight I have ran into a picture of him! of André the Giant I mean. In Japan, being a great giant among the small people of hino maru.
