working for the USA is fun
when I started working for an American company I never really realized how paranoid this would get. Once in a while all employees (on the US territory or overseas like me) are required a special training of brain washing by the American almighty authority: do not help terrorism and stand together against the evil.
It sounds fun but in fact this is pretty boring.
Flight simulator Training
Long time ago I started training a bit on the FS2004 doing all the lessons by Rod Machado and was confident with a little Cesna.
As I said it was long time ago and now that I live in Canada, I am wanting to learn again to eventually go to the real ground school and flying school. Yes, prices are really competitive, not to say attractive.
Indeed it would cost around 12k CAD for a full teaching process into becoming a private licensed pilot - which is nothing to prices in Japan or France.
So I just installed FS X on my T60p and tweak my old joypad in order to do a few learning missions. I have to say it is strange using a joypad to fly, but also that it is not unpleasant and I am getting use to it. On another hand, I use to fly with a force feedback joystick and it was a different experience.
Speaking of joystick I am thinking in getting the Saitek Aviator (AV8R) - no I am ready to buy the yok and pedal...yet. But it is the price as the software itself, which is to me expensive. So if you have one to sell, contact me 
Anyways, I was able to pass all the new FSX learning missions very easily. And I am not sure I like them. Yes I already did all the lessons with Rod on FS2004, so I know my way around but with those lessons, I feel empty. Empty of knowledge and training. Maybe I have to dig in to find better lessons...I will see.
I started from the beggining and had a few wings of honors in just a few hours.
In order to fill the emptyness of knowledge and all the things I have forgotten, I have seen an interesting book about how to use FSX to train: FSX for pilot real world training. It has good review on amazon and all the site I went to check it out.
Oh well I will if I can keep up with the virtual training until I get the time and money to go on with real plane training - but with the advantage of this virtual training.
ペラペラ Penguin
Another year and again the resolution: I will study my Japanese. Perhaps this year I will even learn it. Today I've discovered another handy tutor, the Daily Yomiuri's Pera Pera Penguin, a series of "5-minute Japanese" by Hitomi Hirayama.
ペラペラ is actually an adverb used to translate fluent. Speaking a language the ペラペラ way is rather good as you would imagine; unless modest flattery of Japanese people is involved it may just mean that you Japanese is ok and they can understand you.
This is something I wish had been available when I lived in Japan. The one-page format explains a concept and has examples in kanji and romaji. Too many beginning Japanese books don't include kanji, rendering them useless for practicing with Japanese coworkers who find it as difficult to read romanized Japanese as it is for me to read phonetically spelled English.

Inkan
Un des mes [français] amis [encore] au Japon a poste un article interessant sur les inkan. Bien que j'avais eu a m'en servir tres tot a mon arrive au Japon je n'ai jamais poursuivi la recherche car utilise trop tot je pense.
Apres 2 mois au Japon, il était normal pour moi signe ma demande de compte bancaire, mes factures NHK avec mon inkan.
Je n'ai pas de photo pour le moment de mon inkan qui est plutôt simple: juste mon prénom [フローリアン] en katagana (1 des alphabet utilise par les japonais et japonisants). A vrai dire j'avais pense a le faire avec les kanji de mon prénom [風浪李庵] mais avec 4 kanji ca devenait étrange...
日本ではサインよりも判子がよく使われます。判子は名前のスタンプです。銀行で口座を作るのにも、車や家を買うのにも、郵便物を受け取るのにも、結婚や離婚をするのにも判子が必要です。日本では何かと判子を使う機会が多くあります。
このようにいろいろなものに判子を使うので、私たちはいくつかの判子を必要にお応じて使い分けています。家などを買う時に使う重要な判子は実印といいま す。これは重要な判子なので、役所で証明書を作らなくてはいけません。郵便物を受け取る時などに使う簡単な判子は１００円ショップでも買うことができま す。これは三文判と言います。
ほとんどの判子は丸い枠の中に名字、または名字と名前の両方が書いてあります。丸い枠は小さいので、残念ながら英語の名前は長すぎて入らないですね。
