Terminal Server / Remote control reminder

Feb 27th, 2007 by Florian | 0

I have a few terminal servers around the country and I needed to troubleshoot someone in need.

Of course I know how to remotely interact with the session of any of the company computers but somehow I almost forgot how to do this for users connected to a Terminal Session.

First of course you need to make sure that the Remote Control option is activated for the specific user you need to help out. It better be in your user template :)
This is just tab option in the user property of the Active Directory Users and Computer MMC.

For more help about this you want to follow the information here by MSFT.

Remote Control TS
I first tried to locally on my machine open the Terminal Services Manager console and remote control someone. But I could not! The option “Remote Control” was grayed out.

I simply forgot that you can NOT remote from the console of a computer, it MUST be done from a RDP Session.

Yeah another 10 minutes waste of time of mine. So DO remember this citrix/TS fanatics!
