GPU alerts

Aug 15th, 2007 by Florian | 0

I was quite disapointed when during a landing approach my plane…er computer crashed. Well it did not really crashed, it powered off itself.

I would not imaging FSX to be so GPU demanding on my ATI. X1400. But my computer was hot, the keyboard part above the GPU was very warm and the fan area was very hot, so hot that the vga connector just beside would be almost untouchable.

After a few others, I was able to see the GPU going near 100 degrees and then the computer would power off. However I could hear the fan blowing as hard as it could but apparently not cooling down the system.

GPU test

After reading a bit of forum, I eventually gave a try to the dust problem. This laptop is pretty new and to me it was not to be subject to dust problems. But iwith surprise I blown in the fan and almost die because of the dust inside!

It seems to be cooler now and it has been an hour that I am hammering the GPU and it doesn’t go over 70 degrees…for now.
